Hancock - Movie Reveiw
Up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane … no it’s Hancock! For those of you who have yet to check out Will Smith’s latest movie, I recommend you go to the theaters and see it. For the past couple of summers, Smith’s movies have been the highlight of the 4th of July weekend. His latest movie Hancock has already grossed $107 million dollars at the box office within the first week.

Smith plays Hancock, a drunken superhero who flies through the air carrying a bottle of whiskey and causes destruction every time he lands. His character has superhuman strength and does not age. Hancock has saved many lives over the years; however, the people of California are more concerned with the amount of damage Hancock causes. There are scenes in the movie where people say that Hancock smells like a bar.

Hancock begins to get tired of the people not appreciating what he does and feels as though what he is doing is useless. Then one day Hancock saves the life of Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), a public relations spokesperson who has been struck by a train. From his near death experience, Ray feels he owes Hancock his life and he begins to figure out a way to rebuild Hancock’s public image.

Hancock allows Ray to work on his image by agreeing to spend a month in prison until the chief of police sees that they need Hancock after the crime rate increases on the streets of California. The chief of police calls the prison to have Hancock released. After his release and having helped the police arrest a gang of criminals, Hancock becomes a popular public icon – a real superhero.

The film is filled with more humor than action, but it’s sure to leave you entertained and anxiously awaiting the DVD release. From a public relations perspective, the movie truly shows how one man’s ambition to change the world leads to rebuilding the image of someone trying to do the same.
