You Set The Temperature
by Cynthia Stafford (BPRW)
Let’s use changing jobs as an example of how you set the temperature. Always leave your old job the way you want your new job to be. You are setting the temperature by planting a seed. Your heart is the test for your temperature. God sees not only our actions, but also our hearts. You should never leave an old job with bitterness, indifference, anger or arrogance, among other things. You carry with you to the new what you brought from the old. You are carrying your attitudes, your likes and dislikes, etc. with you wherever you go. The spirit you had in the old is the spirit you are carrying into the new, even if you say to yourself I’m going to change. Because the thing was never settled in the old, means it still exists and is carried with you, so until you make it right where you came from you can’t get it right where you are going.
How you leave where you left is how you will enter where you are going; it’s a seed that has set the temperature. Before you left your old job, were you helpful, available and honest with those whom you worked with. For example, did you respond to questions with answers such as “I don’t know,” “ask John Doe, he knows,” or “I’m not working on that anymore?” You want to leave the person who is replacing you with everything they need to succeed and be victorious, because when you get to that new place someone will have to help you, work with you, show you, and even if you think you know it, you don’t know everything and will need help. And yes, God is all you need and He will help you, but realize that He often works through people to help you.
The way you leave one season is how you will enter your next season. So get your heart, attitude and thoughts, right in the old so God can take you higher in the new. You set the temperature.
