Travel to Tanzania
by Abigail Knowles Wolfe (BPRW)
Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak often called the roof of Africa at 15,100 feet and enjoy the view of the surrounding plains or travel to the heart of Masai country, also in northern Tanzania to visit Ol Donyo Lengai. This active volcano, measuring close to 10,000 feet in height is located in the Rift Valley. The view from its north from its summit looks over the sweltering yet extraordinary salt flats of Lake Natron where few animals live but the flamingo makes its home. The sweltering environment provides a barrier against predators trying to attack the flamingoes’ nesting grounds.
The Mahale Mountains are home to hundreds of chimpanzees and guests visiting this African nation have the option of taking specialized Chimpanzee trekking safaris to the southwestern national parks of Mahale Mountains and Gombe Stream. Prefer wildebeests, lions or African Hunting dogs? There are safari expeditions in national parks and games reserves presenting some of the most fascinating nature in the world. Planning the get away of a lifetime? Why not head to east Africa to experience the wonders of Tanzania?
